Directions is a free course aimed at young people aged 16-18, who aren’t sure that they want to go to college, what they would like to study or haven’t decided what career that they would like in the future.

To help you with the cost of coming to College, Directions offers:

  • A free breakfast every day at College
  • A free bus pass for your first term and a heavily discounted one after that
  • A bursary to help with any additional costs such as travelling to College, books, equipment etc. depending on your financial situation.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

Directions has various start dates throughout the year and takes around six weeks to complete with a view to continuing your studies for the rest of the year.

However, this course is very flexible and tailored to suit you, for example, you may choose to attend College three days per week or, you may prefer to have a work placement two and a half days per week with half a day in College helping you to improve your English and maths.

Either way, your key-worker will be there to help and support you from start to finish.

What will I study?

Directions will help you to gain a level 1 Preparation for Education and Employment qualification and will also help you to improve your English and maths.
