Be creative! Write scripts and develop your ideas for videos and productions while exploring a wide range of media-based topics and concepts of theoretical media.

Based in our £70,000 TV studio, green screen and editing suites, you will develop your skills and knowledge using industry-standard equipment including video cameras, audio equipment, and editing software, Premier Pro. This is an ideal qualification for learners intending to progress directly to employment in the digital audio/visual sector of the creative industries, or to a related Apprenticeship, such as in TV production and broadcasting, or a creative digital media Apprenticeship.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete.

This course will take place at our Main Campus, Huyton, Liverpool, L36 3SD.

What will I study?

The mandatory modules learners cover include:

  • Digital production project
  • Planning and pitching a digital media product
  • Digital moving image production
  • Digital editing for moving image
  • Digital audio production

As well as optional units such as:

  • Lighting for moving image
  • Image capture and manipulation

Achieving this qualification will give learners an advantage when applying for an entry-level job in the creative industries. The types of jobs include:

  • Audio/visual technician
  • Broadcast assistant

How is it assessed?

You will be internally assessed through a series of practical activities and assignments.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have two GCSEs at grade 4 or above and two GCSEs at grade 3 (equivalent to grade D) or above.

Achieving a good standard of English and maths is a key requirement for many jobs, as well as for courses you may wish to progress on to. If you achieve below a grade 4 in your English and/or maths GCSEs at school, you will study it alongside your chosen course when you join us.

What are the course fees?

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2024), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

This course is your first stepping stone to a fantastic and exciting career in the industry.

Upon completion, you will have the opportunity to progress on to the level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production to advance your skills and knowledge.
