This course is for those who want to develop a career in domestic, commercial or industrial electrical installation.
You will learn about electrical installation technology as well as the underlying principles of electrical science, gaining skills and knowledge in specialist areas such as installing wiring systems and enclosures.
When will I start the course and how long will it take?
The course will start in September and will take one year to complete.
This course will take place at our IAMTech Campus, Princess Drive, Liverpool, L14 9ND.
What will I study?
During this course, you will cover the following units:
- Electrotechnical technology
- Principles of electrical science
- Electrical installation technology
- Health and safety within building services engineering
In addition to this, you will have the opportunity to gain some work experience within the construction industry.
How is it assessed?
During this course, you’ll be assessed through an end of year exam and practical synoptic exercise.
Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?
You should have successfully completed a level 1 Electrical Installation qualification or have achieved a grade 4 or above in English and maths.
What are the course fees?
If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2024), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?
Upon successful completion of this course, you could enhance your skills and knowledge by undertaking the level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Electrical Installation, based at our St Helens STEM Centre Campus, to enhance your skills and knowledge.
