We are supporting National Apprenticeship Week and Visitor Economy Week!

St Helens College and Knowsley Community College are gearing up for a jam-packed week, highlighting Visitor Economy Week and National Apprenticeship Week 2020. This year, the two initiatives will come together, taking place on the same week for the first time, from Monday 3rd February to Sunday 9th February.

In support of this, we will be celebrating the outstanding successes of current students and apprentices whilst promoting apprenticeship opportunities to young people and employers, as well as highlighting a variety of careers in our thriving tourism industry.

Visitor Economy Week and National Apprenticeship Week are exciting initiatives, which will bring together key Liverpool City Region partners to demonstrate to school children, students, teachers, parents and employers, the unlimited apprenticeship opportunities and tourism opportunities available within the region.

The busy week of activities will commence with the official launch of Visitor Economy Week at the Maritime Museum, where our level 2 Cabin Crew students have the opportunity to act as welcome hosts at the Merseyside event. In addition to this, the School Liaison Team will be conducting a range of insightful apprenticeship information sessions to young people at several schools across the borough, sharing CV tips and guidance on how to search and apply for apprenticeship vacancies.

Over the course of the week, Cabin Crew and Travel and Tourism students will have the opportunity to speak to Perfect Getaways Travel and Bourne Leisure, including the chance to apply for popular positions with Haven, Butlins and Warner Leisure Hotels.

In addition to planned activities, many of our talented and skilled apprentices will feature in a week-long social media campaign to inspire and encourage others to follow in their footsteps and to choose an apprenticeship to ‘fire up’ their future careers.

Visitor Economy Week will culminate in a closing ceremony at the Richmond Hotel on Thursday, which will involve students from five colleges in the Liverpool City Region, collaborating to create a five-course dinner. Our skilled Catering students have been tasked with producing the starter of the meal – a beef consommé, to be served to over 120 people.
