Safer Internet Day 2016

Safer Internet Day (SID) has become a landmark event in the online safety calendar, it has grown beyond its traditional geographic zone and is now celebrated in more than 100 countries worldwide. From cyberbullying to social networking, each year Safer Internet Day aims to raise awareness of emerging online issues and chooses a topic reflecting current concerns.

At KCC, Kim and Tina, the LRC advisers, and staff promote safety online all year but particularly on this day they asked for students to come up with ‘stay safe’ slogans and signed a pledge to confirm that they know what to do to stay safe online, from privacy settings to not accepting unknown people. All pledges were entered into a competition to win vouchers. 316 pledges were completed by students this year.
