National Apprenticeship Week 2023

Monday 6th February 2023 – Sunday 12th February 2023

In support of National Apprenticeship Week 2023, employers and apprentices from across England will come together to celebrate the success of apprenticeships, whilst encouraging even more people to choose apprenticeships as a pathway to a great career.

We have an exciting week of activity lined up across all our campuses and digital platforms, showcasing our current apprentices, promoting apprenticeship opportunities to both young people and adults, and demonstrating how employers can benefit from employing an apprentice.

What’s On This Week

Monday 6th February

  • Griffin Care Guest Speaker
    To launch the week we are welcoming local employer, Griffin Care based in Prescot, to our Town Centre Campus to speak to our level 2 Health and Social Care students about placement opportunities and upcoming apprenticeship vacancies.

  • ULEMCo Visit with Hydrogen Truck
    ULEMCo will be visiting our STEM Centre Campus with its Hydrogen truck to deliver a presentation to our Engineering apprentices, providing an overview of the company and giving a demonstration of their truck, which has proprietary H2ICED® technology installed.

Tuesday 7th February

  • Tyrell Electrical Guest Speaker
    Tyrell Electrical will be visiting Electrical Installation students at our IAMTech Campus to talk about how apprentices benefit their business and the opportunities available through apprenticeships.

  • Gateacre Careers Fair and St Cuthberts Career Fair
    The School Liaison and Apprenticeship Team will be at Gateacre School and St Cuthberts High School to highlight the benefits of choosing an apprenticeship and how they can provide you with ‘skills for life’.

  • Job Centre Plus Apprenticeship Event
    The Apprenticeship Team be hosting an apprenticeship information session at JobCentre Plus in St Helens, covering the benefits of choosing an apprenticeship, current live vacancies, and how to apply for an apprenticeship.

Wednesday 8th February

  • Howdens Construction Visit
    Howdens Joinery will be at our STEM Centre campus to deliver AutoCAD sessions to our Carpentry and Joinery students and also introduce them to how Howdens looks after its account holders. They will also be handing over a donation of products for our students to use within the workshop.
  • Knowsley Works Apprenticeship Talk
    Knowsley Works will be at our Knowsley Main Campus, alongside our Business Development Team, to deliver apprenticeship information sessions to students.

Thursday 9th February

  • Apprenticeship Employer Breakfast
    Our Business Development Team will be hosting their annual employer breakfast, giving employers from across the region the opportunity to hear from our industry experts regarding the evolving apprenticeship landscape, to consult on our exciting curriculum developments to reflect the skills needs of local employers and to also explore how they can develop their workforce through apprenticeships and technical training.

Friday 10th February

  • Cardinal Heenan Careers Fair & Maghull High Careers Fair
    To close an exciting week of apprenticeship activities and events, The School Liaison Team will be attending Cardinal Heenan High School and Maghull High Careers for their Careers Fair with an apprenticeship themed stand.
