GCSE English is an essential qualification for many jobs. Whether you want to progress in your current job role or are looking for a career change, gaining an up to date and relevant qualification can support you in this.

This course is designed to help you to develop the skills needed to feel confident in progressing to GCSE English. You will be taught in a supportive and Covid safe environment, to ensure you fulfil your potential.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course has flexible start dates and will take four weeks to complete.

There are a variety of study options with both day and evening classes available.

The course takes place at Knowsley Community College, Main Campus, Liverpool, L36 3SD.

What will I study?

During this course you will learn about spelling, punctuation and grammar, how to plan writing, different formats and styles and reading for understanding.

How is it assessed?

There is no formal assessment required to complete this course.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You don’t need any previous qualifications to undertake this course. This course is available to adults who are not currently undertaking English/maths study at the college.

What are the course fees?

This course is free to study, providing you don’t already hold a grade 4 (equivalent to grade C) or above at GCSE level in this subject.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Once you have completed this course you will be able to progress on to GCSE English at the college.
