Our one-year Access to Higher Education (HE) courses are designed to help you gain the skills, experience and qualifications needed to successfully progress on to higher education including University Centre St Helens.
Each Access to HE course is tailored to a specific career pathway, enabling you to develop key academic/vocational skills to support you with studying at a higher level. Whether you have just started to plan your future career, or are looking to make a career change, Access to HE is the ideal first step to achieving this.
Financial Support for Access to HE
Course fees for Access to HE are dependent on your personal circumstances and you may be eligible for funding to cover the cost of your course fees.
If you are aged 19 or over, you could also choose to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover part of your course fees. An Advanced Learner Loan enables you to study now, pay later. Loan eligibility isn’t dependent on income or employment status and there is no credit check. Loan repayments don’t start until you have finished your course and earn over £25,725 per year. If you take out an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the course fees for an Access to HE course, and then successfully complete a degree, then you don’t have to repay the outstanding loan for the Access to HE course.
