This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.

With this course, you will learn how to construct block, brick and cavity walling and will develop the hand skills needed to use a variety of tools.

Your listening and problem solving skills will form a big part of this course as you’ll work independently to complete a variety of written and practical tasks.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete.You will attend college three days a week.

This course will take place at our IAMTech Campus, Princess Drive, Liverpool, L14 9ND.

What will I study?

During this course, you will cover the following:

  • Constructing block walling
  • Constructing brick walling
  • Constructing cavity walling
  • Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries
  • Knowledge of construction technology
  • Knowledge of technical information, quantities and communication with others
  • Mixture of construction materials
  • Setting out for basic masonry structures

In addition to this, you will have the opportunity to gain some work experience within the construction industry.

How is it assessed?

During this course, you’ll be assessed by a range of practical and online assessments.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have GCSEs at grade 3 (equivalent to grade D) or above in English and maths.

What are the course fees?

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

This course is the first step towards becoming a successful Bricklayer. You could progress on to a level 2 construction qualification to enhance your skills and knowledge or alternatively, you could secure an apprenticeship to gain on-the-job skills and experience.
