Competition for apprenticeship job vacancies is fierce…get yourself ahead of the competition with our FREE Access to Apprenticeships course.

The course is open to anyone aged 16 – 24, who is looking to become job ready and be in a position to secure a dream apprenticeship.

We have lots of apprenticeship job vacancies across all industries and during your time on the course, you will receive focused support in applying for current vacancies.

To help you with the cost of coming to College, Access to Apprenticeships offers:

  • £25 per week
  • A free breakfast every day at St Helens College
  • A free bus pass for the duration of the course

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The Access to Apprenticeships course starts January 2021 and takes six weeks to complete.

What will I study?

As part of the Access to Apprenticeships course, you will study the following topics:

  • Professional CV development
  • Developing confidence and communication skills
  • Help with English and maths (if needed)
  • How to prepare for an interview
  • How to apply for apprenticeship/traineeship vacancies

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You don’t need any previous qualifications to join Access to Apprenticeships, just a desire to gain a traineeship, apprenticeship or employment.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Once you’ve completed this course, you will have a greater understanding of what employers are looking for when trying to fill their vacancies.

You will have developed crucial employability skills, a strong understanding of the vacancy application process and the confidence to secure your dream traineeship or apprenticeship in the industry of your choice.

We have lots of employers with jobs to fill and we can assist you in applying for these. You may also choose to apply for a traineeship, enter full-time work or even join a College course.
