This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.

If you would like to consider a career in accountancy or work in a finance role, then this course will help to explain the roles in the industry and provide an insight into some of the financial areas that you could be involved in. Financial management is at the heart of every business, so demand for accounting and finance skills is high across all sectors.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course will start in September and January and will take one day to complete.

This course will take place at our Main Campus, Huyton, Liverpool, L36 3SD.

What will I study?

This course will help you to gain an insight into the main roles within the industry and how you could find a job in the finance sector. You will learn about:

  • The main roles of financial accounting
  • The main accounting records kept by a business
  • What a sales ledger department is
  • What a purchase ledger department is
  • How records are used in finance

This is an ideal workshop for you if you have an interest in numbers, may be considering looking for work in the finance sector or maybe you are considering studying for an accountancy qualification.

How is it assessed?

There is no formal assessment, this is an informal workshop designed to be more informative and give you a good grounding to make a more informed decision regarding future study and your career path.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

No qualifications or previous experience is required to take part in this course.

This introductory course has been designed to aid anyone who would like to develop their knowledge of Finance and Accounts or improve their skills in the workplace.

What are the course fees?

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

If you enjoy this workshop, you may wish to progress onto an accountancy (AAT) qualification with St Helens College. There may also be Apprenticeships available.
