Students will be able to find help within the Library for a wide range of matters. Help and assistance can be offered on an individual basis or to groups. See below for the current Help Sessions on offer.

1-2-1 Help Sessions

Do you struggle with using a computer? Need help using ebooks, or finding online journal articles? Do you feel that you would benefit from some one-to-one help?

Research Workshops

The following workshops are aimed at HE students but can be adapted to suit all levels of study.

Tutors can book workshops for their groups via the Library Management Team. Students who wish to participate in one or more of these sessions on an individual basis, please use the contact details for the 1-2-1 Help Sessions that are stated above.

  • College and/or Partner University Resources
    Session introduces students to the Knowsley Community College Library resources, the appropriate Partner University Library resources and other sources of information
    PCs required

    1 hour
    (Can be held as a refresher session and will be adapted depending on level on study)

  • Advanced Searching
    Session will introduce students to advanced searching techniques, in particular Boolean Search Operators. Students will learn how to apply these techniques to various online resources
    PCs required

    (Suitable for Access to HE and HE level of study)

  • Identifying Reliable Resources/Evaluating Sources
    Session will provide students with the skills needed to successfully evaluate different resources, whether academic or otherwise. There is a particular focus on websites for this session but skills are transferable

  • Time Management and Organisation
    Session will allow students to assess their own time management, identify strategies to improve their time management and encourage discussions around solutions to common organisational problems
    Classroom based

    1 hour
    (Can be adapted to suit all levels of study)
