This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.

Throughout this course, you will gain an insight into the sport and fitness industry and develop essential skills such as communication, leadership, self-management and teamwork.

You will experience a variety of sports to enhance your fitness such as football, netball, tennis, badminton and athletics.

There will also be an opportunity to work with local primary schools to create fun and engaging sport sessions.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete.

This course is delivered at our Main Campus, Stockbridge Lane, Huyton, L36 3SD.

What will I study?

During this course, you will cover the following units:

  • Sports coaching
  • Developing sporting skills and tactical awareness
  • Introduction to healthy exercise and nutrition
  • Planning and preparing wellbeing activities and fitness sessions
  • Leading wellbeing activities and fitness sessions

How is it assessed?

You will be assessed through a combination of practicals, written and oral questions, assignment work, observation and tests.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have four GCSEs at grade 3 (equivalent to grade D) or above, including English or maths.

What are the course fees?

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Upon completion, you could progress on to the level 3 Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity to advance your skills and knowledge.
