Beauty Therapy

About

This course is designed to develop your practical skills in providing basic manicure and pedicure treatments whilst working towards a recognised qualification.

It’s ideal for those with little or no experience and are looking take their first steps into the beauty industry.

You will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety practices in a salon environment, along with client care and communication skills required for working within the beauty industry.

Entry requirements

No previous qualifications are required for entry onto this course.

Finance

You may be eligible to get up to 100% of your course fees covered if you are in receipt of a qualifying benefit. If you are aged 19 – 23 and this is your first full level 1 qualification, 100% of your course fees will be covered. More information can be provided upon application.

If you aren’t eligible for funding, the cost of this course is £941.00.

Assessed

You will be assessed through a series of practical observations but will be fully supported by the course tutor. Do I need any previous qualifications or experience to start this course?(*) No formal qualifications are needed to begin this course.

Progression and Careers

Upon successful completion of this course you could choose to progress onto the level 2 VTCT Diploma in Beauty Therapy Studies to further develop your knowledge and skills.

Duration

This course starts on Friday 4th May 2018 and will take 10 weeks to complete.

 

What you will study

You will gain a basic introduction to beauty therapy skills allowing the opportunity for further progression.

You will study the following units:

  • Providing basic manicure treatment
  • Providing basic pedicure treatment
  • Follow health and safety in the salon
  • Client care and communication in beauty-related industries
  • This course will also develop your interpersonal skills and improve your confidence.

You will study in the Knowsley Community College fully operational, commercial training salons . Open to the public for services, it provides education and training for those wanting a career in the hair, beauty or spa industry, allowing students the opportunity to develop their skills through hands-on work experience. The Salon offers state of the art facilities including hairdressing and beauty therapy salons, a nail bar, and a spray tanning room.
