Access to HE

Our Access to Higher Education (HE) courses are designed for those who have some life experience outside of formal education and who would like to study at university but don’t yet have the qualifications to gain entry. Access to Higher Education diplomas can help you to bridge the gap and are the perfect way to prepare yourself academically, and get the right qualifications to study at degree level.

Each Access to HE course is tailored to a specific subject area and is a popular route by which many adult learners enter university and go on to enjoy successful careers. You will develop the academic/vocational skills you need and gain confidence and understanding of studying at a higher level. Whether you’ve just started to plan your future career, or looking for a change in career direction, Access to HE is the ideal first step to get you started.

Financial Support for Access to HE

Course fees for Access to HE are dependent on your personal circumstances and you may be eligible for funding to cover 100% of your course fees.

If you are aged 19+ you could also choose to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover your course fees enabling you to study now, pay later. Loan eligibility isn’t dependent on income or employment status and there is no credit check. Loan repayments don’t start until you have finished your course and earn over £25,000 per year. If you take out an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the course fees for an Access to HE course, and then successfully complete a degree, then you don’t have to repay the outstanding loan for the Access to HE course.
