Student Takes Third Place at Media Makeup & Photography Event

KCC Makeup students attended The Media Makeup & Photography Event at Rugby College on Saturday 11th March. The event, organised by the Professional Makeup Academy, included taster classes from industry professionals, live demos and creative showcases giving both students and tutors inspiration and fresh ideas to bring back to college.
Special Effects artist Andy Savage, who visited the college in January, led a guided tutorial in in gory prosthetic special effects which our Media Make-up took part in as well as sampling glitter makeup techniques, body art and a full range of prosthetic works.
The event also hosted the Creative Artist Competition with students required to submit their original creations based on the theme of ‘Books’ and scored against character makeup and body art. Student Laura Yates brought her design to life on Performing Arts student Joe Field, placing 3rd overall and walking away with a goody bag worth £200 in makeup, a photo shoot worth £1500 and 3 workshops in airbrush makeup, face paint technique and body art.
