This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.

This advanced level course is suitable for those wanting to expand their knowledge and skill set to pursue a career as an employed and/or self-employed Beauty Therapist.

Throughout this course, you will develop your understanding of anatomy, how to successfully promote and sell retail products and how to provide a diverse range of beauty treatments including Swedish massage, skin and body analysis and face and body electrical treatments.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course will start in September and will take one year to complete. You will attend college two days a week.

This course will take place at our Main Campus, Huyton, Liverpool, L36 3SD.

What will I study?

During this course, you will cover the following units:

  • Health and safety in the salon
  • Client care and consultation
  • Body analysis
  • Skin analysis
  • Swedish massage therapy
  • Body electrical treatments
  • Facial electrical treatments
  • Electrical science
  • Mechanical massage
  • Anatomy and physiology for the face and body systems

How is it assessed?

You will be assessed by practical observations carried out within a realistic working environment, portfolio evidence and external examinations.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have successfully completed a level 2 Beauty Therapy NVQ/VRQ qualification or equivalent.

What are the course fees?

The course fee is £3,345.

If you are aged 19 or over, you could also apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover your course fees enabling you to study now, pay later. Loan eligibility isn’t dependent on income or employment status and there is no credit check. Loan repayments don’t start until you have finished your course and earn over £25,000 per year. What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Upon successful completion of this course, you will have the opportunity to broaden your skills by progressing on to further learning such as the level 3 Diploma in Nail Technology at our St Helens Campus.

Alternatively, you may wish to travel the world working on cruise ships, develop skills in a local salon or spa, embrace the rewards of retail sales or even grow your own business.

Additional Information

As part of this programme you are required to wear a uniform. There is also a kit required to complete your assessments which can be purchased from a recommended supplier. You may be eligible for financial support to cover these costs.
