This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.

This course will provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to progress into employment in the floristry industry.

During the course you will study creative floral design methods and techniques, botany and business skills. You will gain the skills to produce a range of designs, including tied designs, wired designs, glued designs and designs in different mediums.

You will also learn how to produce floral designs for different events, such as weddings and funerals and gain a detailed understanding of the current and future design development and innovation in floristry.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete. You will attend college two days per week on a Monday and Thursday from 9.30am – 4.00pm.

The course takes place at our Main Campus, Stockbridge Lane, Huyton, L36 3SD.

You will study a range of topics including:

  • Principles of health and safety
  • Undertake and review work related experience in the land-based industries
  • Principles of the creative design process in floristry
  • Plant and flower care
  • Tied floral designs
  • Floral designs in a medium
  • Wired floral designs
  • Glued floral designs
  • Business management and marketing in floristry
  • Trends in the floristry industry
  • Event floristry

How is it assessed?

You will be assessed by synoptic assignments and theory exams.

You must also complete the mandatory employer involvement requirement before successfully achieving this qualification.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have achieved a level 2 Floristry qualification.

This is a professional floristry qualification and applicants must be prepared to undertake 150 hours industry experience as part of this qualification.

What are the course fees?

The total cost of this course is £4,425. You may be eligible for funding depending on your personal circumstances and subject to a fee assessment during the enrolment process. For further details, please visit our financial support pages.

If you are aged 19 or over, you could also apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover your course fees enabling you to study now, pay later. Loan eligibility isn’t dependent on income or employment status and there is no credit check. Loan repayments don’t start until you have finished your course and earn over £25,000 per year.
