This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.

AAT is the world’s leading professional membership body for accounting technicians, with over 100,000 members worldwide.

The Level 3 AAT Diploma in Accounting is designed for those who wish to progress in their career and potentially undertake further advanced study in accountancy and finance.

This qualification introduces you to both essential and higher-level accounting techniques and financial processes, such as maintaining cost accounting records, the preparation of reports and returns, and advanced bookkeeping professional ethics.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete. You will attend College for two evenings per week.

This course will take place at our Main Campus, Huyton, Liverpool, L36 3SD.

What will I study?

You will study the following:

  • Business Awareness
  • Financial Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements
  • Management Accounting Techniques
  • Tax Processes for Businesses

How is it assessed?

This course will be assessed through computer-based assessments for each unit.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have a level 2 AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting or an equivalent qualification. Related skills gained in the workplace will also be considered.

All new applicants for AAT at St Helens College are required to undertake a centre-devised numeracy and literacy assessment and attend an interview.

What are the course fees?

The total cost of this course is £2,573. You may be eligible for funding depending on your personal circumstances and subject to a fee assessment during the enrolment process. For further details, please visit our financial support pages.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover your course fees. An Advanced Learner Loan enables you to study now, pay later. Loan eligibility is not dependent on income or employment status and there is no credit check. Loan repayments do not start until you have finished your course and earn over £25,000 per year. AAT membership fees are payable to the awarding body, and are not included in the course costs.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Upon successful completion of this course, you may choose to progress on to the level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting. Alternatively, you may also progress in your career in roles including:
