25 HOWDO YOU WANTTO STUDY ? Once you have completed your GCSEs, there are a number of ways that you could choose to progress. At Knowsley Community College we have options to suit all types of students depending on how you would like to study and what your future goals are. A LEVELS A levels are a more traditional route to university and could be the right fit for you if you enjoyed studying GCSEs and don’t mind sitting exams. You can choose up to three A level subjects that complement each other and keep your future career options open. VOCATIONAL/BTEC A vocational qualification focuses on practical learning, developing your skills and knowledge for a career in a specific industry. You will complete coursework alongside some assessments, specialising in your chosen subject. This is the perfect route if you know what you would like to do in the future. PROFESSIONAL SKILLS PROGRAMME Choose to study from one of several unique Professional Skills Programmes, combining two traditional A levels with a vocational qualification, alongside valuable enrichment and work experience. APPRENTICESHIPS Apprenticeships give you the opportunity to combine real work experience and gain a recognised qualification. You will earn a wage while boosting your employability and job skills. All routes could lead onto higher education, into employment or further training.
