VOCATIONAL/BTEC STUDY Vocational study programmes (sometimes referred to as BTECs) are a great route to university, an apprenticeship or securing employment. Some vocational courses provide the same amount of UCAS Tariff Points as A levels. Many people assume that vocational courses are not as valuable as A levels, but this is completely untrue! Vocational study programmes focus on practical hands-on learning, developing your skills and knowledge for a career in a specific industry. This allows you to spend lots of time learning about what you need to be successful in your chosen career. Study usually takes place across one or two years and you will have the opportunity to take part in work experience to enhance your personal development. 26
