Dive into the world of hairdressing with our dynamic course! You’ll build a solid foundation of diverse hairdressing skills and knowledge, whilst gaining an understanding of the Health and Safety procedures in the hair industry.
Start Date and Duration
The course will start in September and will take one year to complete.
This course will take place at our Main Campus, Huyton, Liverpool, L36 3SD.
Course Content
The content of this course will focus on the following modules:
- Introduction to the Hair and Beauty sector
- Shampoo and conditioning
- Styling women’s and men’s hair
- Salon reception duties
- Create and maintain retail displays in the salon
- Working collaboratively in the hair and beauty sector
- Present a professional image in a salon
Assessment Methods
You will be assessed through a combination of practical assessments and written tasks.
Entry Requirements
You should have 2 GCSEs at grade 2 or above including English and/or maths.
Achieving a good standard of English and maths is a key requirement for many jobs, as well as for courses you may wish to progress on to. If you achieve below a grade 4 in your English and maths GCSEs at school, you will study it alongside your course when you join us.
Once you have successfully completed this course, you may choose to develop your knowledge and skills further by completing the Level 2 in Hairdressing.
Additional Information
As part of this programme, you are required to wear a uniform (tunic), which will be worn with black trousers or a skirt and a full black shoe. Our recommended uniform supplier is Florence Roby. There is also a kit required to complete your assessments which can be purchased from our recommended supplier. More information will be provided during the application process, and you may be eligible for a bursary to cover these costs.
Course Cost
If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2026), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation.
