Based in our commercial salon, you will have an exciting opportunity to provide a range of treatments such as eyelash and brow treatments, facial skin care, waxing, basic manicures and pedicures to paying clients.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course will start in September and will take one year to complete.

This course will take place at our Main Campus, Huyton, Liverpool, L36 3SD.

What will I study?

During this course, you will cover the following units:

  • Provide facial skincare
  • Remove hair using waxing techniques
  • Provide eyelash and brow treatments
  • Client care and communication in the beauty-related industries
  • Provide manicure treatments
  • Provide pedicure treatments
  • Follow health and safety practice in the salon
  • Provide nail art
  • Reception duties and display stock

How is it assessed?

You will be assessed throughout the course by a combination of practical assessments, written assignments, end-of-module exams and portfolio building.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and maths.

Achieving a good standard of English and maths is a key requirement for many jobs, as well as for courses you may wish to progress on to. If you achieve below a grade 4 in your English and/or maths GCSEs at school, you will study it alongside your chosen course when you join us.

What are the course fees?

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2024), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Once you have completed this course, you will be able to progress on to one of the following:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Studies
  • Level 3 Diploma in Theatrical, Special Effects, Hair and Media Makeup

Alternatively, you may want to gain employment in the industry!

Additional Information

As part of this programme, you are required to wear a uniform (tunic), which will be worn with black trousers or a skirt and a full black shoe. Our recommended uniform supplier is Florence Roby. There is also a kit required to complete your assessments which can be purchased from our recommended supplier, Dennis Williams. More information will be provided during the application process and you may be eligible for a bursary to cover these costs.
