Performing Arts Student’s on Tour

Following a visit to the National Building Centre in Llanrwst, Performing Arts students have successfully toured their original piece of educational theatre called ‘Test of Time’ around local Prescot schools.

The shows captivated audiences from Year 3 to Year 8 in both Prescot High School and St Mary’s & St Paul’s Church of England Primary School. Students created a performance based on the subject of dying out of traditional building techniques and the importance of creating a new generation of craftspeople to ensure out buildings and traditions survive. This important issue was highlighted through a  creative, dynamic and entertaining performance through acting, physical theatre and dance.

The Skills Co-Ordinator of Prescot Townscape Heritage Initiative, Lyndsey-Jane Kevan spoke of the project, “I am so pleased we approached KCC and the Performing Arts department to produce an educational piece to inspire young people on a subject that can be quite drab and uninteresting”.

The project provided valuable work experience for the Performing Arts students, working as an amateur Theatre in Education Company.

After two impressive performances, the final performance will take place at Lord Derby Academy, Huyton on Tuesday 2nd May.
