KCC Hosts Exclusive West End Workshop
February 11, 2016
Performing Arts Students from Knowsley Community College were invited to an exclusive workshop to learn a number from the hit musical, Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
The workshop, which took place at KCC’s Performing Arts Theatre, was led by West End producer and Director, Craig Ryder, and star of the musical, Adam Lyons, who is also a former KCC student.
After going to see the show the week before at the Empire Theatre, the students then got the chance to learn how it was done. During the workshop, they learnt the choreography to the famous number ‘Go West’ and also rehearsed script from the show to practice audition preparation.
The students had a fantastic time, enjoying the show and getting involved in the workshop, saying it was such a valuable experience.
Carmel Moss, their tutor explained; ‘Getting a taste of how an industry works is vital for the students’ careers, especially so for a demanding and completive environment like the West End.
The students have been inspired by the workshop and learning how that can then be transferred to the stage, which is great preparation for their upcoming West End performance of their own, this April, at Her Majesty’s Theatre London, as part of ‘The Stars in Our Eyes – Carmel Moss
