College Team awarded ‘Highly Commended’ at Knowsley Business Awards

The Supported Learning team at Knowsley Community College have received the Highly Commended Award in the Team of Year category at the Knowsley Business Awards 2016.

The team, which includes Tutors, Care Assistants and Learning Support Assistants, are dedicated to the welfare and progression of young people and adults who have specialist educational and/or personal needs.

The judging panel at the event explained that the team was awarded for ‘the significant impact they have on the lives of young people and their families, not only through their teaching methods but also the confidence they instil in their students.

This was evidenced not only through parental feedback, but through the passion and dedication that came across within their heartfelt nomination.

Knowsley Community College’s Principal, Anne Pryer, explained why the award was so well deserved;

Through their skills, positivity, encouragement and dedication, the Supported Learning team have created a transformational culture that enables each individual student to gain in confidence, independence and employability, alongside achieving qualifications to support their next steps.

Through their actions, the team’s work has an outstanding reputation across the Borough and the wider City Region. They make a difference to the lives of over 100 young people and adults every day and I am thrilled that their work has been recognised.

Knowsley Community College has recently relocated to a new £32 million campus, which includes a range of facilities for supported learning students, including a state of the art sensory room, large interactive classrooms and full domestic kitchens. For more information, visit
