Art and Design and Early Years students support Spooktacular event
October 24, 2023
It was a Spooktacular weekend for our Art and Design and Early Years Students as they participated in this year’s annual Spooky Welly Walk at Sefton Park.
The sold out event, organised by Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, welcomed over 9,000 visitors on Saturday for a fun filled day of Halloween activities from, Creepy Crafts, Freaky Funfair, to Bugfest Beauty Parlour and so much more.
Our wickedly talented Art and Design students created signage and props for the event, which greeted visitors at various photo stations across the park, featuring scarecrows, spell books, witches, cauldrons as well as other Halloween themed props.
Level 2 and 3 Early Years students Lily, Jessica, Grace, Yasmin and Aiva volunteered their time at the Bugfest Beauty Parlour, providing glitter and face painting activities for the visitors.
Early Years Tutor, Rachel, was also supporting the event along with her students and said: “The girls were incredible, they were unfazed by the long queues and spoke confidently to the children and especially their parents/guardians”.
Rachel added: “It was a fantastic event for children of all ages and parents to be involved in and it was great to see our students getting involved creating the signage and props and giving up their Saturday to help fundraise for such an important cause. We all had a great time.”
Rosie Morgan, Events Manager at Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, said: This was our biggest and best Spooky Welly Walk yet! 9000 people from across Merseyside and beyond joined us for a day of Halloween run, all in aid of raising funds for Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. And that we did! I am so proud to say the event raised over £70,000! A huge thank you to our loyal volunteers, suppliers and excellent exhibitors for all your support!”
Well done to all our students for their amazing work to support such a great cause.
