Armed Forces and Dignitary Join to Sign Community Covenant
November 11, 2015
Ahead of the remembrance and reflection of Armistice Day 2015, local representatives from the Armed Forces and Knowsley VIPs came together to pledge their commitment to The Royal Navy, Marines, Army and Air Force.
Taking place at Knowsley Community College, the event saw Knowsley representatives sign the Official Armed Forces Covenant, through which signatory organisations and any other affiliated local partners commit their knowledge, expertise and experience to supporting members of the Armed Forces Community.
The Covenant was originally formed in 2012, through the borough’s Local Strategic Partnership to develop agreed priorities which provide support to in service and ex service personnel and their families across the areas of health and wellbeing, education, employment, safer communities and housing.
The event included speeches from Madam Mayor, Councillor Edna Finneran, Lieutenant David Ashman and David Curtis of Everton in the Community, as well as live performances from KCC Music students.
