Aspiring Chartered Accountant
After working as a Credit Controller in Poland for a number of years, Barbara longed for a more varied role in accounting and started her journey towards her dream career.
Barbara explained: “I have a degree in economics and although I started my career as a Credit Controller for a large corporation, I felt restricted to a limited set of tasks and wanted a career where I had the chance to see the whole picture – I knew I needed to make a big change!”
Barbara started her journey in more ways than one and after moving to the UK and securing a job in administration, she started researching the best way to train in accounting.
She said: “I realised that I needed professional qualifications and decided level 2 AAT was the best place to start. Since I was working full-time, I needed evening classes and direct interaction with tutors and students was also important to me. With high pass rates and great recommendations, the College ticked all the boxes.”
Speaking about her experience so far, Barbara said: “I have enjoyed my time at College so much that I have progressed all the way from level 2 to level 4 and I’ve met some great people along the way.”
She added: “Although there were some challenging periods, especially during lockdown when we had to move to online learning, I could always count on the support from my tutors, who went to great lengths to make sure we were prepared for our exams.”
Now working as a Finance Assistant at CRJ Services, Barbara is using the skills and knowledge she has gained in the classroom in her job role. She commented: “Completing professional courses in accounting has built my confidence, allowed me to progress in my career and has helped prepare me for my next step in becoming a Chartered Accountant!”
