This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.
The Level 1 Award in Styling Women’s Hair is a nationally recognised qualification designed to give you the essential skills and knowledge to start your career in the hairdressing industry.
Through hands-on training, you’ll gain experience in styling women’s hair, including techniques such as blow-drying, setting, and creating simple styles using professional tools and Osmo products, while developing the confidence and techniques expected in a salon environment.
Alongside practical experience, you’ll build a strong understanding of theory and technical terminology – key foundations for further study and exciting career opportunities in hair and beauty.
Course Start Date and Duration
The course will start in January and will take 16 weeks to complete. You will attend college on a Wednesday, 1.00pm – 4.00pm.
This course will take place at our Main Campus, Main Campus, Stockbridge Lane, Huyton, Liverpool, L36 3SD.
Course Content
During this course you will study the following topics:
- Introduction to the hair and beauty sector
- Presenting a professional image in a salon
- Shampoo and conditioning
- Style hair using hairdressing techniques
- Create a hair and beauty image
Assessment Methods
Assessment is through the completion of a portfolio of evidence such as photographs of your work and supporting documentation, demonstrating your competence in both practical skills and underpinning knowledge required for the qualification.
During the course, you tutor will also observe you performing practical treatments and services, in line with industry standards, to help you reflect on your performance and identify areas for improvement.
