This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.
This course is designed to provide you with an introduction to the welding industry. It is suitable for those who wish to gain the practical skills and knowledge required for access to employment in the industry, those who are already employed and would like to obtain relevant and up to date practical skills and knowledge and those who would like to progress on to higher levels of study.
During the course you will develop your skills and gain an understanding of Metal Inert Gas welding process, equipment functions, and the correct procedures for health and safety that are paramount in this industry.
This course aims to provide you with an introduction to the welding industry and will allow you to develop your knowledge and basic skills of Metal Inert Gas Welding before advancing onto the Level 1 Award Introductory Metal Inert Gas Welding Skills course.
When will I start the course and how long will it take?
This course will start in December and take two weeks to complete. You will attend college one evening per week on a Tuesday, 9.00am – 12.00pm.
This course will take place at our IAMTech Campus, Princess Drive, Liverpool, L14 9ND.
What will I study?
Students will study the Metal Inert Gas welding process and the health and safety required in a welding environment.
How is it assessed?
This course is assessed through practical assessment.
Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?
There are no entry requirements for this course.
What are the course fees?
You may be eligible for funding if you have not previously completed similar funded training.
There are a number of fee options for this course including:
- If you are unemployed – FREE
- If you are employed – £30
- If you are not eligible for funding – £100
What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?
Once you have completed this course, you will have the opportunity to progress onto the Level 1 Award in Introductory Metal Inert Gas Welding Skills course.
