“It’s never too late to get back into education and Knowsley Community College is definitely the place to do it!”
Adult student, Claire, has returned to education to focus on her career, after taking a break to focus on being a full-time mum.
The 35-year-old from Huyton, says, “I have always wanted to study beauty and work in the industry but I felt like there was never the right time to do it, especially after having two children – but now they are a bit older, I said to myself I now need to concentrate on what I want and go for it.”
Claire studied the level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing at KCC back in 2011 and decided that following her previous positive experience, it would be the perfect place to return to education.
Alongside attending College two days per week, Claire has also recently started a voluntary placement at Renaissance Health and Beauty in Prescot. This invaluable experience, working alongside experienced staff, is helping to grow her confidence and develop her skills further. She is hoping to continue this placement as she progresses on to the level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy.
Claire says, “I have loved studying beauty and particularly enjoy carrying out facials and waxing and learning about anatomy and physiology of the human body.”
Looking to the future, Claire is considering a career in teaching, saying, “I want to continue to learn and eventually support and help others to find their passion and follow their dreams too.”
Hoping to inspire others, Claire says, “It’s never too late to change your career or get back into education. The tutors are beyond supportive, especially my tutor, Denise, who I want to personally thank for being so patient, kind and passionate. If you are looking to follow your dreams; Knowsley Community College is definitely the place to do it!”
