This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.

This course will allow you to learn how to make different stocks, soups and sauces, which you can use to impress your friends and family.

This inspiring course will develop your culinary flair and provide you with a range of stock, soup and sauce recipes.

Experiment with fresh local produce and explore quick and versatile methods to cook mouth-watering soups and sauces.

Start Date and Duration

This course is due to start on Thursday 6th November 2025. You will attend college on Thursday evening from 6.00pm – 9.00pm, for four weeks.

This course will take place at our Main Campus, Huyton, Liverpool, L36 3SD.

Course Content

This course will allow you to develop basic craft skills and encourage you to develop creative culinary ideas.

The course will explore the tools required for specific culinary tasks, the selection of ingredients and the methods required in the preparation, cooking and finishing of soup, stock and sauces.

Some of these may include:

  • Minestrone soup
  • Tomato sauce
  • Mushroom cream sauce

Assessment Methods

There is no formal assessment. You will be given feedback based on your progress with suggestions and guidance for areas for improvement.

As with all our leisure courses, the main emphasis is to come and enjoy!

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. The course is suitable for all levels of ability.

You will need to wear strong, flat sensible shoes and bring along an apron, tea towel, and an oven glove.

Please bring along a container to take what you have made home with you.

Course Cost

The total cost of this course is £130. This is a full cost course meaning that there are no fee discounts available.

The course price is inclusive of all the ingredients that you will need for each session.

You may wish to progress onto an accredited qualification in this subject, which will allow you to practice your skills in the industry.
