Students gather together to celebrate Refugee Week

Before our students headed off for the summer break, we celebrated Refugee Week with staff, students and the wider community. We were also delighted to welcome the Mayor of Knowsley for a special visit.

This year’s theme, "Community as a Superpower", focused on how communities bring people together, offer support and create spaces for resilience and healing. When we work towards a shared goal, amazing things can happen. Refugee Week was a chance to rediscover that strength and celebrate it in action.

To mark the occasion, we hosted an afternoon of fun, culture and connection, celebrating the diversity of Knowsley.

It was brilliant to see so many smiling faces as students made new friends, danced to traditional music, enjoyed food from around the world and shared stories from their cultures.

As part of the celebrations, we asked Karen, Brian, Mikey and Nada: “What does community mean to you?”. Their answers reminded us of the power of coming together, the strength, healing and sense of belonging that community brings.
