HAIRDRESSING AND BARBERING 135 Apprenticeships are a great way to develop your skills and experience on-the-job, whilst gaining a recognised qualification. One of the many benefits is, you’ll get paid to do it. An apprenticeship is an actual job, meaning that you’ll spend more time out in the workplace than in the classroom. So if you prefer to learn by doing, then an apprenticeship is a great place to start. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS A grade 4 or above in your English and maths GCSEs is preferable. HAIRDRESSING This apprenticeship is designed to prepare you for a career as a Hairdresser. You’ll gain a range of skills from various tasks such as creatively styling, cutting and dressing hair using a combination of techniques, colouring and lightening hair and providing client consultation and hair colour correction services. BARBERING This apprenticeship is suitable for those who are looking to gain employment within the industry as a Barber. You will gain hands-on experience across a range of tasks from providing shaving services and creatively cutting men’s hair and facial hair to carrying out reception duties.
