You should have five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including a grade 4 in English, a grade 5 in maths and a grade 5 in science or separate sciences. Entry Requirements You will cover the following units: • Physical: atomic structure, bonding, energetics, kinetics, equilibrium, electrochemical, thermodynamics, acids and bases • Inorganic: periodicity, group 2 metals and the halogens, period 3 and their oxides, transition metals and reactions of ions • Organic: alkanes, alkenes, alcohols and organic analysis, optical isomerism, aldehydes and ketones, aromatic chemistry and organic synthesis In addition to this, you will also undertake practical work in the laboratory using various experimental techniques such as redox titrations, inorganic tests and purifying an organic solid. What can I go on to do once I have completed this? Upon completion of this A level, you will have developed practical laboratory skills, problem-solving skills and organisation skills to enable you to progress on to the next stage of your education. This A level can lead to a wide range of degree courses, such as medicine, veterinary science, dentistry or biochemistry.
