This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.
This course is designed to develop your practical skills in planning, preparing and constructing basic floral designs.
It is ideal for those with little or no experience and are looking take their first steps into the floristry industry to improve your chances of finding work, trying a potential new career, or developing a new skill.
When will I start the course and how long will it take?
The course will start on Monday 16th January 2023 and will take 6 weeks to complete. You will attend College on a Monday, from 9.30am – 3.30pm.
This course will take place at our Main Campus, Huyton, Liverpool, L36 3SD.
What will I study?
Located in our on-site commercial florist, The Flower Studio, you will gain a thorough understanding of the various aspects of Floristry.
The following areas will be covered:
- Plan, prepare and construct tied floristry designs
- Plan, prepare and construct arrangements
You will also touch on the following:
- Introduction to art and design – learning colour harmonies and design principles
- Identify, and learn the conditioning of incoming cut flowers and foliager
How is it assessed?
This course is assessed through a number of written and practical assessments. You will be fully supported by your tutor.
Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?
No formal qualifications are needed to begin this course. However, a keen interest in floristry would be an advantage.
What are the course fees?

What can I go on to do once I have finished this course?
Upon successful completion of this course, you may wish to further enhance your skills and knowledge by completing the level 2 Technical Certificate in Floristry through an additional period of study.
