Course Description
NVQs are a nationally recognised qualification based on standards set by industry to define the skills or competences required in employment. You will learn how to complete set tasks to the standards required by City & Guilds/CITB as the lead body.NVQs are constructed from a number of modules. Each may be gained and accredited separately in order to build up the qualification at a pace and over a time suitable to the indivdual.

Entry Requirements
GCSE resits: Minimum 4 Grade Ds one of which must be English and / or Maths (for Apps – refer to SASE guidance)

Modules Studied:

  • General workplace safety
  • Efficient working practices
  • Move and handle resources
  • Erect masonry structures.
  • Set out masonry structures
  • Plus 1 optional unit to be identified in relation to daily working activities
  • Employer Rights and Responsibilities (ERR). Abrasive wheels, CSCS H&S, and Key Skills Level 1 in Numeracy and Literacy

Attendance Modes: Day

Assessment: The course is assessed continuously, based on the ability to perform specific tasks. A certificate is awarded when all units are completed. Plus on-site assessment and portfolio building. CSCS Health and Safety certificate, Abrasive wheels certificate.

Progression Routes: To progress on to NVQ level 3 in trowel occupations, Bricklayer, Construction Operative, Stonemason.
