BTEC Diploma in Public Services (QCF) - L1 - FL

Course Description
Designed for people who are interested in joining the Public Services and would like to find out more information about who they are and what they do.You will learn the skills needed to gain entry to the Public Services, including teamwork, leadership, map-reading and how to deal with people.

Entry Requirements
GCSEs: At least 4 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade E, including English and Maths. or working at relevant Entry 3 Vocational Qualification and working at E3 English. (E3 Maths and IT may be required for some subjects)

Modules Studied:

  • The Uniformed and Non-uniformed Public Services: designed to give you information about the different services and what do they do and how they work together
  • Teamwork: this unit helps you understand the importance of teamwork and its role in the public services
  • Map-Reading: all of the public services have to be able to map read; this unit helps you develop your skills
  • Fitness and Lifestyle: this unit looks at how to get fit, the importance of fitness and a good diet
  • Citizenship: this unit looks at the impoortance of being a good citizen, and how this affects society
  • Diversity: explains how our area is made up and the different things that different people bring with them
  • Dealing with Incidents: this unit looks at how incidents in the public services are dealt with

Attendance Modes: Day

Assessment: A range of methods will be used, including assignments, practical assessment and, for some courses, external tests and portfolio work.

Progression Routes: You can continue your studies on to a vocational course at Level 2, including the BTEC First Diploma in Public Services, or choose to pursue employment.
