Course Description
The Diploma is a new qualification that offers a unique mix of traditional and work-relevant learning. In collaboration with employers and higher education, the Diploma provides learners with essential skills and experience through applied learning.Your study on this course involves completing 6 units that combine various media skills and techniques, including areas of research, design, pre/post production and evaluation. Two specialist routes can also be followed (traditional & interactive).
Entry Requirements
For the New Level 3 Diploma – the entry criteria is the same as for 3 A levels and must include English Language.
Modules Studied:
- Unit 1 Capture: eg capturing resources and creating a multimedia/media product
- Unit 2 Show: eg planning for and managing an exhibition of your own work
- Unit 3 Interaction: eg interacting with an event or taking part in an event
- Unit 4 Commission: eg producing an interactive DVD for a company
- Unit 5 Investigation: eg undertake an individually negotiated research project based on a practitioner/maker
- Unit 6 Evaluation: eg personal review and reflection of the investigation
- Work Placement: liaising with employers, colleagues and tutors to produce a media end product

Assessment: Assessment is via a process portfolio of prep work , production and observations. The first four units are internally assessed, units five and six are externally assessed.
Progression Routes: The Advanced Diploma is equivalent to 420 UCAS points (3.5 A Levels). Learners can progress on to University courses in a variety of different subject areas but we find that most students choose one of the many disciplines within the media industries.
