Course Description
All College First courses include Vocational studies, English, Maths and IT. You may be involved in additional activities, ie visits and trips. You will join an induction to help you settle and it may be possible to take more than one vocational option.
Entry Requirements
GCSEs: At least 4 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade E, including English and Maths.
or
working at relevant Entry 3 Vocational Qualification and
working at E3 English. (E3 Maths and IT may be required for some subjects)
Modules Studied:
- Unit 1 - Explore Visual Language in Art, Design and Media.
- Unit 2 - Explore materials, Techniques and Processes in Art, Design and Media.
- Unit 3 - Explore and Develop Art Design and Media Ideas.
- Unit 4 - Carry out a Personal Project in Art, Design or Media.
- Unit 6 - Introduction to 2.D.
- Introduction to 3.D Design Crafts.

Assessment: A range of methods will be used including assignments. Practical assessment is continuous with the addition of external tests and portfolio work. This course will give you a variety of vocationally-related skills appropriate to the chosen option.
Progression Routes: Art & Design, animator, antique dealer, art gallery curator, art therapist, ceramics designer, costume designer, display designer / visual merchandiser, exhibition designer, fashion designer, furniture designer, graphic designer, illustrator.
