Course Description
The course aims to equip candidates with the skills and the knowledge to be a qualified NVQ assessor. In a series of 6 x ½ day workshops, you develop an understanding of the policies and processes involved in assessment and gather evidence of practice.
Entry Requirements
Level 2 skills/craft qual eg NVQ 2 or relevant work experience. Aptitude test and interview. Eng Language GCSE grade C or equivalent eg Key Skills/Functional Skills Eng L2. Preferably Maths GCSE at grade D or above or Key Skills/Functional Skills Maths L1
Modules Studied:
- Develop plans for assessing competence with candidates
- Judge evidence against criteria to make assessment decisions
- Provide feedback and support to candidates on assessment decisions
- Contribute to the internal quality assurance process

Attendance Modes: Day
Assessment: You will be assessed through observation, professional discussion and a portfolio of work-based evidence. Portfolio workshops are incorporated in the course. You will improve awareness and confidence in using a range of methods to assess NVQ candidates.
Progression Routes: Employment as an NVQ assessor. Verifier training when further experience has been obtained, Preparation to Teach in Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS).
