College First
College First is the ideal introduction to a wide range of vocational (work-related) courses in Construction, Catering, Motor Vehicle and more at Knowsley Community College. It is specifically designed to give students the real world skills needed in their preferred kind of work, and to prepare them for further study or employment. Students of any age are welcome to enrol, although most are 16 to 19 years old.
College First courses are either entry level or level 1. These full-time programmes do require up to 19 hours of study per week, but are flexible enough to allow students to sample one or more vocational course during their time at College. Students who choose College First have the benefit of added support, along with all the options of the College's enrichment programme including working on the College radio station, taking part in theatre workshops, learning DJ skills, joining sports teams and fitness sessions and more.
Students, who successfully complete the College First programme, often progress to the next level and beyond with better results for having gone through the programme.
