Adult and Community Education

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

What?
The College is proud of its commitment to provide a broad curriculum for its wider community, beyond its successful Sixth Form and Vocational Training opportunities.

Adult Learners, studying part-time, make up over half of those enrolling each year with the College and are consistently enrolling in their thousands. We do believe that many come to us following ‘word of mouth’ recommendations from others. Part-time opportunities are always popular especially those involving:

Everyday English for Adults
Everyday Maths for Adults
Various IT courses
Employability for stepping back into work and career progression
Classroom Assistant training
Online Learning in many subjects with Learndirect is a further provision which the College is delighted to offer and which is especially attractive to those with busy lives.

Where?
Most of those who choose to enjoy part-time learning with us find that opportunities exist locally for them, in many schools, Community Centres and even their workplaces. Our tutors are regularly travelling throughout Knowsley and sometimes beyond.

Two popular locations include the Trade Union Learning Centre (TULC) in Kirkby, established through partnerships with Unionlearn, and Huyton Learning Shop, located within the main shopping precinct of Huyton Village.

There flexible adult learning enrolments are ideal for those needing to combine their learning with other commitments.

How much will learning cost me?
Most of those enrolling with us need pay no money at all, Everyday English or Maths classes are all fully funded while some other course require modest fees to be paid. Those adults in receipt of some income related benefits may find that even modest and competitive fees are not required of them. Where can I find out more? Information about all the opportunities for adults to learn with our College may be gained by:

  1. Calling in person at our Roby or Kirkby sites and asking to speak with someone from Student Services.
  2. Calling in person at our Huyton Learning Shop
  3. Telephoning the College on 0845 155 1055

We look forward to meeting you.
