Discretionary Learning Support
Discretionary learner support is intended to provide
exceptional support to learners who are finding it difficult to start or continue
their studies due to financial difficulty or general financial hardship.
The Learner Support Fund may be able to provide assistance towards the cost of
essential course equipment and materials, books, bus travel, tuition fees, childcare
costs, educational trips and other exceptional or unforeseen costs associated with
attending college.
All learners are individually assessed to identify the need for support and
if eligible, where it is identified that there are no alternative schemes or
arrangements to provide support, learners can apply for support to the Learner Support Fund (LSF).
Childcare costs
Financial support may be available from the Learner Support
Fund to those students who are unable to meet the costs of childcare for their
children of pre-school age whilst attending the College.
